Our Commitments

Relationships & Emotional Security

As children build strong attachments with educators and peers, they gain the confidence to engage in new experiences, take risks, ask for help, express their ideas and navigate challenge. They learn to trust themselves because they have first learned to trust others. Ultimately, this outcome ensures that every child leaves Eungai Preschool with the relational competencies and emotional grounding that will serve them throughout their schooling years and well into adulthood.

Respect, Empathy & Ethical Citizenship

Children at Eungai Preschool learn to act with kindness, fairness, curiosity and courage. They develop the confidence to challenge bias, the compassion to support others and the belief that they are part of something bigger than themselves. These early dispositions form the bedrock of who they will become as future citizens, classmates, teammates and community members.

Identity, Agency & Capable Competence

We view children as capable, eager and resourceful learners who carry within them the seeds of their emerging identity. Our role is not to shape children into predetermined outcomes, but to create the relational and physical conditions in which they can discover – and construct – themselves. This learning outcome speaks directly to our belief that identity, agency and competence are intertwined threads that grow when children feel trusted, respected and empowered.

Curiosity, Wonder & Deep Thinking

Every child at Eungai Preschool becomes a confident thinker – curious, reflective, imaginative and open to complexity. They learn that questions are powerful, ideas are valued, and knowledge is something they can construct themselves. By nurturing wonder and deep thinking, we prepare children not only for school but for a life filled with inquiry, creativity and joyful engagement with the world

Connection to Nature & Environmental Responsibility

Children at Eungai Preschool develop not only knowledge of the natural world, but a relationship with it. They experience joy, wonder and peace outdoors. They learn to be caretakers, observers, and respectful participants in the ecosystems around them. this connection will influence their sense of identity, their values and a lifelong commitment to sustainability and environmental care.

Attunement to Children’s 100 Languages

The 100 Languages remind us that children communicate through movement, gesture, drawing, construction, storytelling, dramatic plau, pattern making, music, inquiry, silence and sensory exploration. The Arts of Attunement is the educator’s parallel commitment – our practice of tuning in, slowing down, watching with curiosity, responding sensitively and interpreting each child’s unique expressive rhythms. Together these two concepts create a powerful communicative ecosystem at Eungai.

Play, Exploration & Meaningful Risk

Children at Eungai are encouraged to engage in open-ended exploration, unhurried inquiry and experiences that invite experimentation. Through loose parts, natural materials, sensory opportunities, imaginative spaces and access to the outdoors, children choose how, where and with whom they play. Such choices build agency, independence and self direction. When children follow their own fascinations, learning is internalised and enduring.

Individualised & Responsive Learning Journeys

Every child’s learnign journey is unique, dynamic and deeply personal. At Eungai we honour the individuality of each learner by embracing a pedagogy that is responsive, relationsal and grounded in careful observation. Our philosophy emphasises individualised learning plans, predictability, reflection and adaptation, and the environment as the third teacher. together these elements ensure continuity of learning – so that each child’s experiences build upon their strengths, needs, interests and developing sense of identity.
